January 02, 2019Reviewer: A guest* I love the product in making a no bake cheese cake but I used it to bake a cake and it was like eating sand. I’m not sure why. If someone knows would love your input. This review is specific to Xylitol Sweetener

February 16, 2017Reviewer: Kim in Florida* I recently discovered this item. I was given a recipe to make my own sweetener by blending 1 cup Erythritol, 1/4 cup Xylitol and 1/4 tsp stevia. There is no after taste, I use it in my coffee, baking, everything.....I love sweet and this did it for me. I have been ordering and using this product from netrition.com for 2-3 years now and the quality and service both have been great. Thank you!!

October 16, 2016Reviewer: john in Louisiana* This is probably the best sweetener I have found, particularly for coffee and baking. It works well with a little bit of stevia, also; maybe in a 1:10 ratio.

October 03, 2016Reviewer: helen in California* I discount for the alcohol class but i use in my cookie that is made with fiber flour and polydextrose and then peanut buter and eggs

May 14, 2015Reviewer: Kay in Pennsylvania* I have started using Xylitol daily for its health benefits: stronger teeth and gums, remineralizing of teeth and bones. What it does for teeth is true. I have seen a significant improvement. I have come to love the taste. It has a lively flavor and no calories! This is a win-win-win situation! The price here at Netrition is the best. This review is specific to Xylitol Sweetener

June 25, 2013Reviewer: Susan in Michigan* I love Xylitol. Not having the after taste of some sugar substitutes is wonderful. It gave me some of the digestion problems I had read about others having when I first started using it, but now I don't notice any of that anymore. I only gave it a 4 because it does not dissolve well in my baking products but I have found that if I powder it first, I am much happier with the results. I order a large bag of it every month. My family loves the products I use it in.

July 11, 2012Reviewer: Cristy in Texas* Absolutely no complaints with this sweetener! Tastes like sugar! I use it in making my low carb cheesecake and even in my morning coffee. Sprinkle it over some strawberries and it's fantastic! A Definite staple in my new low carb sugar free lifestyle!

June 05, 2012Reviewer: Jesseca in South Carolina* This is the only sugar substitute I will use now. Great taste and great for baking or in your coffee!

2 of 2 people found the following review helpfulMarch 26, 2012Reviewer: A customer in New York* Please note, if you have "issues" with corn products, this particular brand of xylitol is made from corn husks while the others offered at netrition are made from birch. This may or may not matter to you, but just as an "fyi" for those that it does matter to!

March 29, 2011Reviewer: James in Arizona* I like NOW Xylitol Sweetener. Other reviewers did not find it sweet, but I found it very sweet. October 03, 2010Reviewer: Christopher in Illinois* This is an excellent product overall. Xylitol tastes much more like sugar than other sugar-free sweeteners I've used. There's also no bitterness or weird aftertaste.
Just a few comments: 1) This is not a zero-carb product. While xylitol probably won't raise your blood sugar very much, large quantities of this sweetener aren't that compatible with a low-carbohydrate diet, either. If you want something "guilt free," go with a zero-carb liquid sweetener. In moderation, though, this shouldn't ruin your diet. 2) Some people complain of GI distress. That's never happened to me, but I don't eat that much at any sitting. 3) Maybe I've just gone without sugar for a long time, but xylitol is very sweet. I usually have to use half the amount of xylitol that the recipe calls for, otherwise the result turns out so sickeningly sweet that I can't eat it. 4) Xylitol has a strange effect on my baked goods and other dessert items. I bake with almond and coconut flours and I make ice cream at home. Let's start with the ice cream - the ice cream doesn't freeze completely when I use xylitol. I used less this last time because I was running out and the ice cream is as hard as a rock now. The other times, it'd freeze, but as soon I as took it out, it'd start to get a little on the soupy side. As for baked items, I found that my almond flour crusts weren't hardening up. They were quite mushy. I am not sure why this is happening, but just a word of caution that its effect can be somewhat unpredictable. 5) This is crystallized, not powdered, so it doesn't incorporate quite as well as would liquid or powdered. It's not a huge issue - I just stir as I am pouring batter so that the xylitol mixes in well - but you can grind the xylitol at home if you would prefer a different texture.

August 19, 2010Reviewer: A customer in California* I bought the NOW xylitol PACKETS and was very disappointed. The Xylitol was like sand, very coarse. I used 4 packets in my coffee and it did nothing to sweeten it. Ive used other brands of xylitol and had no complaints. This review is specific to Xylitol Sweetener Packets

May 06, 2010Reviewer: Cameron in Minnesota* Xylitol is a little watery tasting but better than Sucralose sweeteners, and is best when mixed with Sucralose and a little stevia. An absolute must for baking. This review is specific to Xylitol Sweetener

1 of 1 people found the following review helpfulApril 04, 2009Reviewer: Charles in Texas* Soooo sweet and soooooo very, very much like sugar. Yes! It is expensive but for those special recipes or when you want to fool guests. . .this is just the thing. I never have sugar in my house but xylitol is in the sugar bowl and people never know the difference. It's crystalline like sugar, too. Splenda is a bit too fine grained.

January 06, 2009Reviewer: Lorelei in Washington* In my household, we have 90% cut out sugar, the other 10% being what we can not pry out of the kids hands.
While I can not tolerate more than the smallest amounts of any brand of Xylitol, my spouse can. He uses this on a regular basis in his oats, tea, muffins, and anything else that requires sweetening and he likes this brand. The crystals are a bit larger than sugar, and some other xylitol brands, but not by a huge amount. Really that is the only difference I can tell from the different brands we have tried.

April 02, 2008Reviewer: Phyllis in Michigan* Great substitute for sugar, no real aftertaste and it's a better choice for those who are leery of the Equal and Splenda sweeteners.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpfulNovember 25, 2007Reviewer: David in New Jersey* Xylitol is a great sweetener for those who can tolerate it. It also helps to fight tooth decay. When baking, we mix it with Erythritol and liquid Splenda. This combo of sweeteners gives a real sugar taste to your low carb creations.
Just a very big word of caution. Like chocolate, Xylitol is deadly to dogs, so keep it away from your pets!

October 15, 2007Reviewer: Janice in Canada* Xylitol sweetener is an excellent alternative to other non-sugar sweeteners, like Splenda. My father suffers from an irregular heart beat, and Splenda aggravates that condition - severely. But Xylitol has no effect, what so ever. We've been using this non-sugar sweetener for several years now (mixed with Stevia), and with no adverse effects. I use it every Christmas to make home-made, sugar-free chocolates. Has a slight cool taste - kind of like those old menthol cigarettes - LOL! Highly recommended. Enjoy!

July 27, 2007Reviewer: sheryl in Oregon* This is by far the most excellent sweetener on the market. I've used all existing products of sweeteners available, many which are proving to be detrimental to user's health. This is wholly natural, but even more important to me is the taste and the results when using it in baking and cooking. It's fantastic using xylitol for jams and jellies (I use the no sugar pectin). I also use it when canning fruit, and for baking. I am a diabetic, and I substitute xylitol straight across for the sugar called for in all my favorite recipes, and it works, unlike Splenda. There is no after taste when I use it, especially to sweeten fresh fruit or drinks. Can you tell I think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread??? Well, xylitol certainly is!!!! p.s. my family dislikes artificial sweeteners...they think I've gone back to using real sugar. This review is specific to Xylitol Sweetener

1 of 1 people found the following review helpfulMarch 31, 2007Reviewer: Michelle in South Dakota* I have used it for baking in many different recipes and it is great. My whole family loves it. We have even used it to make homemade ice cream and it has such a great taste. I use similar amounts as I would for sugar and have had great success. The first few days I would suggest not eating too much until your body adjusts to it. It did cause some stomach cramping the first couple of days. Now we use it a lot and have no side affects at all. I would recommend it to anyone. It is a great sugar substitute!

February 14, 2007Reviewer: Gina in California* Since being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes I have searched and tried dozens of products to curb my sugar addiction. This one is the best. It makes the low carb life bearable and I am sooooo thankful I found it. I use it on cinnamon toast, kool-aid, and in cookies and baked goods...the list goes on and on. Now if only it came in brown sugar too!

February 06, 2007Reviewer: Heather in New Mexico* I guess like any sweetener, some people don't do well with xylitol, but I haven't had any trouble with it! It is EXCELLENT for baking, since it's granular like sugar. I've used it to make excellent low-carb coconut flour brownies. I even cut the amount of xylitol called for in half, and substituted the other half with stevia, and it turned out great. If consumed alone or sprinkled on something, it may leave a cool sensation in your mouth, like mint gum would, but it's not too strong. Used in baking, I don't notice it at all. This review is specific to Xylitol Sweetener

0 of 3 people found the following review helpfulJanuary 10, 2007Reviewer: A customer in North Carolina* This is horrible I had the runs "Diarear" for days and my stomach hurt a lot. I switch to Erythritol, its suppose to be better on your stomach. Unless you don't mind the pain, I would NOT recommend this item. Also it's not best for diabetics either. This review is specific to Xylitol Sweetener
