November 12, 2019Reviewer: kreela in Virginia* If you need glycerine to sweeten and thicken a recipe, this substitute offers many fewer calories. Instead of 40 calories per Tsp, which is much more than 1 tsp of plain sugar, it states 0 calories per 1/4 tsp.
Is it 0 cal per 1 tsp? I don't know. However, it should also be better at keeping the blood sugar stable.
Negatives: It is water-thin and won't thicken a syrup.
