January 22, 2021Reviewer: Dean in New Jersey* Unfortunately the formula for this syrup just changed for the worse. The old version was amazing. I hope the mfg goes back to the old formula. This new lighter colored one is way thinner, too sweet and doesn't have much flavor. Also the calories/nutrition label changed. I have an old bottle which was 20 cal for 2 tbsp. New one is 45 cal for 2 tbsp. This is the same cal as Aunt Jemima Light syrup (not the sugar free version) which is much cheaper.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpfulJanuary 11, 2021Reviewer: Andrea in New York* I have been buying this syrup for years and absolutely love it. However, now they changed the ingredients and it tastes absolutely terrible! It now tastes cloying sweet with an highly artificial flavor. What a big mistake!
-
November 30, 2020Reviewer: Phillip in Georgia* Joseph's is the very best no sugar maple syrup on the market.
-
September 30, 2020Reviewer: A guest* The best tasting sugar free product that I have found. Good favor, no after taste, thick and rich. Very satisfied with this product, and netrition does very fast delivery. Thank you!
-
September 05, 2020Reviewer: Katherine in Michigan* We are reordering this syrup because it was a hit with my 11 y.o. son. I've been looking for a non- or lower sugar alternative, and we tried several from this online store. Joseph's brand was the best tasting and thickest consistency, like real maple syrup. The others (which were sweetened with monkfruit or xylitol) were too watery or too sweet.
-
August 29, 2020Reviewer: Chrislie in Michigan* I am happy that this syrup doesn't contain any fructose or sucrose. Maltitol is a good sugar substitute and this syrup has a rich maple flavor.
-
August 05, 2020Reviewer: Patrice in Texas* This is the best sugar free syrup I have been able to find. The consistency is not slimy as some other sugar free syrups are. No after taste either. I buy several bottles at a time as sometimes it is hard to find.
-
August 05, 2020Reviewer: Darlene in Ohio* Delicious keto-friendly syrup! It tastes great, hard to believe there's no sugar in it. It has a great consistency, not watery at all. Now I'm fully enjoying my keto waffles/pancakes and other baked goods with this syrup.
-

May 19, 2020Reviewer: Chiara in Virginia* I will give this product a 10! This is the best sugar free syrup that I have tried in the USA. It is thick and it doesn’t have any saccharine or similar artificial sweetener after taste. It is like having the real thing, but with only 20 calories per 2 tablespoons.
-

April 27, 2020Reviewer: Laura in North Carolina* This is simply the best sugar free syrup. Perfect taste and fantastic thickness. Delicious!
-
April 23, 2020Reviewer: Yolanda in California* This syrup is the most genuine and has a thicker consistency than other sugar free syrups. I think we've tried them all. It is also reasonably priced. It does cause bloating if too much syrup was used.
Besides use on waffles and pancakes, also dribbled it on popcorn.
-

-
1 of 1 people found the following review helpfulFebruary 22, 2020Reviewer: Beverly in North Dakota* Yes, this is a very good tasting syrup. It is thick and delicious. However, it is sweetened with maltitol, which may not be as good for low cal/low carb as other syrups from Netrition. For many, myself included, maltitol causes mild to severe intestinal gas, cramping, and diarrhea and only has only 1/4 less calories than sugar. It also only measures 1/4 to 1/2 of sugar on the glycemic index and has only 75% to 90% the sweetness of sugar, which could encourage the need to use more to equal that same sweetness. There are several other syrups on this site that I have enjoyed. ChocZero is one of my favorites.
-
February 19, 2020Reviewer: A guest* Joseph’s sugar free is the best tasting sugar free syrup in my opinion
-
February 15, 2020Reviewer: A guest* This is the best low calorie syrup from all that I have tried.

-
August 06, 2019Reviewer: A customer in Illinois* This is a really good alternative to real maple syrup. It has decent flavor, and is very thick. We also use it to make maple flavored ice cream. The only drawback is how gassy it makes a person.
-
July 30, 2019Reviewer: Karen in California* This is the only sugar free syrup I like. Very nice maple flavor.

-
May 20, 2019Reviewer: Alicia in Louisiana* This syrup is GREAT..seriously...I mean it! I usually don't take time out of my day to review products; however, this product deserves my time. If you're looking for sugar-free syrup, look no further. My 13-year-old son loves it as well. I ordered one bottle to try and now I'm back to stock up my pantry. Not only does this syrup taste great, but the serving size is more than you need! One-fourth cup vs. a tablespoon or two.
-

-
March 20, 2019Reviewer: Alan in Florida* Oh my gosh I can't tell you how good this syrup is with low carb French toast on Saturday morning!!! And yes, you can have french toast on the keto diet! LC Foods cinnamon sandwich bread, 2 eggs, some heavy cream and this syrup and I tell you what, it is heaven on Earth!!!
-
March 07, 2019Reviewer: Shari in Texas* I've used this syrup for years. It tastes like real syrup with a thickness that most sugar free syrups don't have. I love it! Tho, if you have stomach issues with maltitol, you may want to stay away. I don't, but my husband does.
-

-
January 05, 2019Reviewer: Cindy in Missouri* I have tried dozens of sugar free syrups. NONE come close to Joseph’s! It’s thick & has no after taste. I love it more than the syrup my family has used my whole life (62 years). I will be a Joseph’s fan for life!
-
November 29, 2018Reviewer: Virginia in Texas* My husband and I both loved this syrup! I had no problems with it spiking my blood sugar either. Great product!

-
1 of 1 people found the following review helpfulNovember 11, 2018Reviewer: Thomas in Michigan* Tastes great. The maltitol can do a number on me though. Probably won’t buy again until they change the the sweetener to one that is less volcanic.
-
November 09, 2018Reviewer: Brittney in South Carolina* This is by far the best syrup hands down! I like it better than any regular or sugar free syrup I've tried. It makes the most blandest pancakes and waffles taste great!

-
October 03, 2018Reviewer: Louise in Louisiana* It's delicious! So much better than any other SF syrup on the market. My only complaint is that it's super sticky- don't let your hair get near it!
-
September 28, 2018Reviewer: Rosemary in Florida* Love this brand of syrup! Great taste and a HEALTHY product compared to many other brands. We've tried other 'healthy' brands, but they did not compare: taste, price, quality. Would suggest you give this a try. I'm certain that most people would make the permanent switch to Joseph's.
-
September 25, 2018Reviewer: Ginny in Ohio* Wow. By far my favorite low carb syrup. Really delicious.

-
2 of 2 people found the following review helpfulJune 12, 2018Reviewer: Deborah in Virginia* First let me say I love this product. That said, if you are diabetic or trying to stay very low carb, be aware that this product is sweetened with maltitol, which does cause an insulin response and blood sugar rise in many people. See below.
For me, I do not pour it over my pancakes but measure out 2 tablespoons into a little side dish and dip the tip of my forkfull of pancakes into the syrup....that way the syrup hits my tastebuds full on. I am not eating that much maltitol at a time.....and I love every bite full. So enjoy your Joseph's and just use sparingly.
******************************************
"At 2.1 calories per gram, maltitol has a little over half the calories of sugar (which is 4 calories per gram). But maltitol syrup has a glycemic index of 52, which is not that much better than table sugar’s glycemic index of 60.
What does that mean to you? Your pancreas perceives maltitol as sugar, raising your insulin needs. Like sugar, maltitol is a carbohydrate."

June 06, 2018Reviewer: Kimberlee in Oregon* Nice thick consistency and sweet flavor without a bad after taste. Best sugar free syrup I’ve tried.

-
April 30, 2018Reviewer: A guest* The best ever!
-
March 09, 2018Reviewer: Monica in Florida* This is my favorite sugar-free maple syrup. Netrition has a very good price.
-
January 08, 2018Reviewer: A guest* Tastes very good, did not want to try another.
-
December 11, 2017Reviewer: PAMELA C in Georgia* This is the best sugar-free syrup! I've tried many others. This one doesn't taste like it's sugar-free! It's thick and pours slowly.
-
November 28, 2017Reviewer: Brenda in North Carolina* This is best tasting sugar free syrup that I have ever tasted. Rich, thick and has a wonderful maple flavor.
-
November 28, 2017Reviewer: A guest* Love this product, it is a bit thick and strong in taste. We take this product and mix it 50/50 with snickers sugar free syrup. The combination of the two can’t be beat
-
November 24, 2017Reviewer: Sulana in Arizona* About 20 years ago I began to reduce the amount of sugar in my diet. To me, Joseph's Sugar-free Maple Syrup tastes like the real thing. I add it to my morning grain hot beverage, use it in oatmeal, on french toast...anything I can come up with. It's absolutely delicious! Highly recommended. I've been using it for many years!
-
November 10, 2017Reviewer: A guest* I tasted this syrup at a pancake house in Maryland last year, and it was the most delicious sugar free syrup I've ever had. I've looked high and low for it, and finally found it on netrition.com. I bought two bottles right away. Try it. You won't be sorry.
-
November 09, 2017Reviewer: A guest* I have used this product for many years and have found it to be reliably tasty. Unlike other sugar free products that I have purchased, this product is thicker as well as tasty. I also found the filling of the order to be prompt. Thank you. I will use this product and your Company again.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpfulSeptember 28, 2017Reviewer: A guest* Because they use natural maple flavoring and can control the amount independently of the sweetener, this syrup actually delivers a richer maple flavor than most pure maple syrups I have tried. The maltitol sweetener has the advantage of tasting and feeling like sugar, but the drawbacks of a high glycemic index and a strong laxative effect. The medical literature indicates that most people experience no gastric problems with a dosage of 30 grams, and a 1/4 cup serving of this has 9 grams. By the way, the nutrition label incorrectly claims zero net carbs. Maltitol has 67 grams net carbs per 100 grams. This gives 6 grams net carbs per 1/4 cup serving of the syrup.
-
August 16, 2017Reviewer: A guest* I got this once at Raleys, they don't have it anymore is the reason I purchased it here. This the best sugar free syrup. It's nice and thick the way syrup should be, not watery like most, you'll love it.
-
August 04, 2017Reviewer: Maytee in New Jersey* This syrup is delicious..for someone who is getting used to gluten free and low carb food. This tasted just like regular syrup!
-
March 26, 2017Reviewer: Amir in California* Best sugar free maple syrup hands down!! I have tried almost all of the brands on here. They are all watery. This has the right thickness. I use it everyday. Definite recommend.
-
March 20, 2017Reviewer: stephen in Rhode Island* Great syrup. Good maple flavor nice and thick not like most sugar free syrup is so thin
-
February 22, 2017Reviewer: A guest* This is by far the best sugar free syrup I have ever eaten. Fortunately I do not have any gastric issues from this sweeter so I'm able to use it in many items. Josephs does provide a wonderful recipe for sugar free pecan pie on their website using their syrup, I have made the pie many times and my husband eats as much of it as I do and he's not even diabetic.
-
January 28, 2017Reviewer: Alyssa in Texas* I use this with the Big Train low carb pancakes. Delicious! I've also used it in recipes that called for maple syrup with good turnout. Don't eat a ton of it though, maltitol can cause some GI upset.
-
December 13, 2016Reviewer: Brian in New Mexico* Informal 4 person taste test with LC pancakes. Joseph's was no question winner over Mrs. Butterworth's sugar free and Walden Farms maple. Good texture and flavor. Decided to try in Thanksgiving Pecan pie... excellent! Ordering more from Netrition, which has best price I have found.
-
December 10, 2016Reviewer: A guest* Jean from Maine wrote: ABSOLUTELY delicious. I'm a New Englander and grew up on real maple syrup, this is the next best thing to real maple syrup...can barely tell the difference! First, I totally agree!! Second, what many fail to mention is the fact that this IS REAL MAPLE FLAVOR. Amazingly, Joseph's is 100% natural maple flavor! No artificial flavor at all. Taste buds are dancing to REAL maple flavor hence all the great reviews. Note: Patty nukes the bottle for a few seconds since it otherwise pours super thick. So warmer and pours better. All thumbs way up....!!!
-
November 16, 2016Reviewer: christie in Texas* This is by far the best tasting sugar free syrup there is. It tastes thick and rich and perfect... Except for one thing. It does cause gastric distress. Not odorous, thankfully, but noisy. I have found if I take a couple of gas-x tablets beforehand, I can avoid the discomfort. I've been told though that malitol will still cause blood sugar spikes. I can't verify that one way or the other.
-
November 08, 2016Reviewer: A customer in Texas* If no one told you,you would never know you were not eating full sugar maple syrup. This is delicious.
-
September 04, 2016Reviewer: Pamela in New York* By far THE best tasting sugar-free maple syrup out there. Rich, sweet and a little goes a long way.
-
July 29, 2016Reviewer: Vickie in Alabama* When I read the other reviews I thought they had to be fake because I really didn't think a sugar free syrup could be that good but I was happily wrong. This syrup is sooo good. I honestly can't taste the difference from "regular" syrup. Beware of the gas after consuming it though. It contains Maltitol which is a sugar alcohol and because your body isn't able to fully absorb it all, it passes through your system quickly which causes some digestive upset (especially if your body isn't use to it). So I gave it 5 stars because it really does taste great but just wanted you to be aware that it might cause some really horrible smelly gas (really).
-
April 08, 2016Reviewer: Daniel in Michigan* This stuff is the bomb, best low carb syrup I've tried so far. Thick and flavorful, as maple syrup should be. HOWEVER, because it's sweetened with MALITOL, it spikes my dad's blood sugar and give my mom terrible diarrhea. A real bummer because it doesn't seem to affect me negatively at all.
The search continues. :(
-
April 06, 2016Reviewer: Ron in California* This is the best tasting sugar free pancake syrup by far!!!!
-
April 04, 2016Reviewer: Michael in Florida* I enjoyed my pancakes with this syrup. It's not thin like most sugar-free syrups.
-
November 04, 2015Reviewer: Demetra in California* I cannot tell the difference between this syrup and Log Cabin syrup. Much lower in carbs so I can eat my low-carb pancakes without guilt!
-
August 28, 2015Reviewer: Cynthia in New Jersey* Delicious, thick and sweet. True "maple" flavor and no after taste. I use it in recipes, on my Greek yogurt (add toasted sliced almonds and ground flax seed & it compliments it beautifully) as well as on my waffles. Thicker than any other sugar free brand I have tried and definitely my favorite!
-
June 01, 2015Reviewer: Cherie in Pennsylvania* This is stunningly good syrup. Thick with no aftertaste. You won't miss the high calorie, high carb syrup one little bit if you switch over to Joseph's!
-
March 15, 2015Reviewer: LACEY in Texas* We are sugar free and this syrup is very low on the glycemic index. It's very tasty and my whole family loves in. I've also baked with it with no issues. I keep it refrigerated as directly which makes it a tad thick. Set out on counter fifteen minutes before pouring for a easier to pour syrup.
-
March 03, 2015Reviewer: Jean in Maine* ABSOLUTELY delicious. I'm a New Englander and grew up on real maple syrup. This the next best thing to the real; can barely tell the difference!
-
February 17, 2015Reviewer: Kimberly in Idaho* The syrup is thick and without the strange after taste you get from some sugar free products. I have ordered this brand multiple times and I share with my friends about this great syrup!
-
September 16, 2014Reviewer: Tish in California* THE BEST EVERRR. Seriously, this stuff is AWESOME. I like this better than regular sugar syrups.
-
June 07, 2014Reviewer: Barbara in Massachusetts* THE absolute BEST tasting maple syrup!
-
January 24, 2014Reviewer: Kathy in California* My diabetic husband and I both agree that this syrup beats ANY other syrup we've tried. It is thick and has a rich maple flavor. So good!
-
November 01, 2013Reviewer: Jennifer in Washington* Very good taste without a lot of preservatives.
-
September 24, 2013Reviewer: PAMELA C in Georgia* Great rich maple taste was thick, not runny. I love to cook for others and I use flavorful healthy products. Everyone liked that it was sugar free and tasted good.
-
September 23, 2013Reviewer: Wendy in New York* I have found this to be the best of the no-sugar "maple" syrups I have tried. It has a thicker texture more like the regular product rather than the watery texture of the other brands. The taste works well, too, but it is the texture that I really like.
-
2 of 3 people found the following review helpfulJune 24, 2013Reviewer: Gail in New York* If you enjoy painful gas and diarrhea, you will love this product. I don't know how this was rated so high. It is sweetened with maltitol which has the above stated side effects like other sugar alcohols. I didn't know this until I got sick from it. I checked the label and searched maltitol and that is what I discovered. I tried another brand and I am going to see what it was. It tasted good and didn't give me any side effects.
-
May 09, 2013Reviewer: A customer in New Jersey* Very thick and syrupy. Delicious flavor.
-
April 28, 2013Reviewer: Julie in Washington* WOW! What fabulous flavor! Tastes like the real thing.
-
April 07, 2013Reviewer: Mary in Louisiana* Tastes like "real" maple syrup. Can give those not used to it digestive issues, but since I started taking probiotics I have had no issues at all.
-
February 15, 2013Reviewer: Nancy S in Alabama* This syrup is awesome! Other sugar free syrups I've tried were watery...this is nice and thick and the taste is as good as any regular syrup out there. Thank goodness I have not had any stomach trouble with the sugar alcohol used in this product. Excellent sugar free product!
-
January 06, 2013Reviewer: Chris in Minnesota* Very tasty! I'm always leery of sugar-free, but this didn't have the gross aftertaste most sugar-free products have. It was just like the full-sugar syrup, though thicker in consistency.
-
4 of 4 people found the following review helpfulOctober 27, 2012Reviewer: A customer in Georgia* Oh Gosh! I fell in love with this syrup immediately upon tasting it! I poured some on my pancakes (approx 1/4 cup),and it was the most delightful treat! However, after 10 minutes of eating it, my stomach has been rumbling violently for hours now. I mean people in the room I am sitting in can actually hear my stomach literally rumbling. I am very sad about this because while the syrup taste superfantastic, the chemical sweetener in it (i.e. maltitol) is disastrous for my digestion system :-( ...I really really regret that I won't be able to buy this again. I am jealous of those of you who can tolerate the sweetener.
-
October 11, 2012Reviewer: susan in South Carolina* This has quickly become one of my favorite things to order from Netrition!!! All the maple flavor and aroma and none of the gooey sugary guilt!!
-
September 07, 2012Reviewer: Bonita in Florida* Very Very Good! A special treat on a low carb diet!
-
1 of 1 people found the following review helpfulJuly 12, 2012Reviewer: Ezekiel in Illinois* Darkest, thickest, and best tasting SF syrup. Must refrigerate after opening. Unfortunately, the maltitol causes severe gastric distress for me, so I use an alternative.
However, Joesph's is your best tasting choice if you can stomach it.
-
1 of 1 people found the following review helpfulMay 09, 2012Reviewer: John in Texas* I have tried nearly every sugar-free pancake syrup product on the market. Most are either too runny or taste awful. Joseph's is perfect. It is thick and tastes just like maple syrup. Don't overeat too much of this though. Excessive consumption can be unfortunate.
-

January 15, 2011Reviewer: Petra in New York* This syrup is THE BEST sugar free syrup I have EVER tasted!!!! It is thick and has no weird taste or after taste. It is comparable to all the other name brand syrups out there and my husband even liked it!! Get this syrup!! You wont regret it!

January 04, 2011Reviewer: Paul in Florida* YUUUUUUMMY is all I can say! I had found a great pancake mix in Big Train. Now I was hoping to find a delicious sugar free syrup to go with them. Mission accomplished in Joseph's sugar free syrup! It's thick, pours slowly and tastes as if you were buying sugar, carb and calorie laden syrup from the store. If you want a perfect pancake breakfast, get Big Train's pancake mix and definitely get this syrup to go with it! You won't be disappointed. I'll certainly be buying more!!!

October 01, 2010Reviewer: Donna in Michigan* Tried several different kinds, most were watery-like. This was very thick with lots of flavor. Not 100% of the original, but the closest thing we've found and no after taste.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpfulFebruary 19, 2010Reviewer: Betsy in North Carolina* The Best. Honestly. Even with the maltitol. THICK. Full of flavor. Have tried LOTS of other s-f/low-carb pancake syrups, and this, hands down, unquestionably, is tops. ..... We've been on Atkins diet 6 years and found this ~3 years ago. GREAT cooking additive as well, i.e. to add to room temperature or hot foods, whether drizzled over fruit compotes, french toast, pancakes, La Nouba waffles, fried apples w. cinnamon, sweet potatoes (all these foods are treats we have in smaller quantities). Would be fine with chilled foods as well, but because the syrup is SO thick, it becomes even thicker at cold temps. If I need a thinner pouring consistency, I put some in a MW-safe condiment cup or bowl and warm it in the microwave 10-20 seconds.
