However, it is sweetened with maltitol, which may not be as good for low cal/low carb as other syrups from Netrition. For many, myself included, maltitol causes mild to severe intestinal gas, cramping, and diarrhea and only has only 1/4 less calories than sugar. It also only measures 1/4 to 1/2 of sugar on the glycemic index and has only 75% to 90% the sweetness of sugar, which could encourage the need to use more to equal that same sweetness. There are several other syrups on this site that I have enjoyed. ChocZero is one of my favorites.

April 08, 2016Reviewer: Daniel in Michigan* This stuff is the bomb, best low carb syrup I've tried so far. Thick and flavorful, as maple syrup should be. HOWEVER, because it's sweetened with MALITOL, it spikes my dad's blood sugar and give my mom terrible diarrhea. A real bummer because it doesn't seem to affect me negatively at all.
