August 23, 2018Reviewer: James in Maryland* This mix made very high quality ice cream which makes sense because most of the ingredients in the instructions are the ingredients for high quality ice cream which are basically cream, sweetener and vanilla extract along with flavoring like cocoa. LC Foods replaced some of the higher carb dairy in regular ice cream with some fiber and water.
I made the ice cream per the directions using a blender to mix the ingredients and my $50 ice cream maker and the chocolate ice cream was delicious! I noticed a slightly more icy texture than regular ice cream due to the use of water and fiber in place of whole milk, but still very good ice cream. I can't say how the results would be using the instructions without an ice cream maker.
I removed a star because this product does not make 1/2 gallon of ice cream. You just have to add up the liquid in the ingredients to see that. I got about 1 quart of ice cream when I made it.
