December 18, 2020Reviewer: A customer in Arizona* I’ve had this in my pantry for a few months. Finally remembered I had it and tried it tonite. I put spreadable pub cheese on it. The serving size is 4 toasts. I think it was delicious. It’s crispy and has such a pleasant taste. I would definitely buy and recommend to all. I love the low carb count and I only tried the plain toast. Haven’t tried the other flavors. This review is specific to Low Carb Proto Toast, Original

September 13, 2020Reviewer: Brenda in South Carolina* I love Ciao Low Carb Toast. It gives me that light crunch that is very satisfying. I put butter, chicken salad, cheese spreads, peanut butter, low carb chocolate almond butter and low carb preserves mostly on them. I get them every time I buy from Netrition! I’ve tried all three flavors and like all three flavors but prefer to get the original most often as can use them for both non-sweet or low carb sweet spreads

September 01, 2020Reviewer: Carol in Florida* I would purchase these again! This is a nice toast/cracker to use for nut butter, cheese spreads or pate. It is also nice at breakfast, spead with butter and have along side bacon and eggs. I may try the tomato which may be tasty used as above or with soups. This review is specific to Low Carb Proto Toast, Original

July 26, 2020Reviewer: Rachel in Illinois* Can't believe I waited so long to try this. This toast is excellent. I used it to make avocado toast. Yummy. Was also used to spread some potted meat on it (I know it's unhealthy, but hey we all have our guilty pleasures). Poached eggs on toast here I come. Pricey, but with the taste and low carb count I will buy again. This review is specific to Low Carb Proto Toast, Original

July 23, 2020Reviewer: Peggy in Wisconsin* I enjoy spreading a bit of butter on these topped with Nature's Hollow SF Strawberry Jam. It's nice to have something similar to toast with butter and jelly. I also place a slice of sharp cheddar on one and broil it for an open-faced grilled cheese. YUM!This review is specific to Low Carb Proto Toast, Original

July 20, 2020Reviewer: Noelle in Texas* This tasted just like bread. It's hard as a rock though. Know it will crumble and it's very unusable for a sandwich. But it has good flavor. Use it as toast with butter and jam and you will eat a whole packet before you know it.This review is specific to Low Carb Proto Toast, Original

1 of 1 people found the following review helpfulFebruary 16, 2020Reviewer: A guest* This toast is nice for spreadable cheese, melted Brie, and toppings like caponata, tapenade, etc. The serving size is four slices so that is nice for a low carb product. It’s like a slightly softer melba toast. Enjoyable and as the package says, “pleasant.”This review is specific to Low Carb Proto Toast, Original

Ordered about 6 packages of the so I wouldn’t runout of them. Next I’ll have to try them with soup. I’d highly recommend them.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpfulOctober 05, 2019Reviewer: Lilian in South Carolina* So I very hesitantly ordered this product for both me and my son. I miss cheese toast with a nice cup of tea. Well today I opened the box and was pleasantly surprised by the amount and the packaging. First there are 20 slices of perfectly toasted bread size slices. Secondly, they come packaged in 4 packs of five slices, I liked this so they don’t go to waste or get soggy from being open. Third, is my son and I loved it with cream cheese and smoked salmon. To say we loved it is an understatement.
I ordered the tomato and the chocolate toast since they were out of the original.
Based on the nutritional info one serving size is a pack of 5 with 27 carbs and 22.5 of fiber making each toast less then 1 carb per slice. I’m a little skeptical, but I’ll go for it. I’ll be ordering so many more!!

September 11, 2019Reviewer: Susan in Oklahoma* These are great! I tried the cocoa and tomato without anything on them. The chocolate is subtle and not sweet, but it is not bitter either. The tomato tastes like they swirled in sun dried tomato paste. Just 1 slice of each was very filling, especially with drinking fluids for the fiber they contain, and I was pretty hungry. I plan to try the Original plain by dipping in EVOO with herbs. These will probably be my go-to snack between meals when I don't want anything sweet.

August 31, 2019Reviewer: Adrienne in Michigan* For anyone on a low carb/high fiber diet, I would say to RUN and get this immediately! It’s so delicious and the nutrition on this toast is phenomenal. I used to eat mainly GG crackers but I’ve since made a switch to this toast as my main fiber/carb source. I even love that it had 10g of protein per serving. Bonus!

1 of 1 people found the following review helpfulNovember 28, 2018Reviewer: A customer in Ohio* Absolutely fabulous! I don't know specifically if these raise my blood sugar or not since I do not take a glucose reading after every meal or even daily since my glucose has been under control for some time now. But, I can tell you that I can eat at least one or even 2 servings and my weight continues to go down! Fabulous taste, you would not even know that you were eating a low carb product since they are comparable in every way to the French toast I used to buy a long time ago. They have so many uses, I think my favorite is dipping them into my Bonefish Grill cloned recipe 4 bread dipping sauce. One of my favorite if not my favorite Foods! This review is specific to Low Carb Proto Toast, Original

August 30, 2018Reviewer: Craig in Michigan* I usually struggle to find ways to use vegetables from my garden. I've found these Proto Toasts ideal for making a fancy snack that eats like a meal. I soften some cream cheese and add seasoning, then I spread it on the toasts and top with fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, and chives. It's very good and very filling.
One serving is one packet of 5 delicate toasts, so the nutrition information is not a numbers 'trick', and the rest of the box doesn't get stale. The price per serving limits how often I eat them, so this is a nice feature.
Because these toasts are delicate, spreads must be soft, but they are not like chewing on wood like some of the other dried 'bread'. Definitely going to buy more of these.

May 13, 2018Reviewer: SUZANNE in Ohio* I love this bread! It's like dry toast, which I find very pleasant. I pack this in my lunch nearly every day. Also great to have when you are not feeling so well because it really is like toast. This review is specific to Low Carb Proto Toast, Original

December 07, 2016Reviewer: Meredith in Illinois* These crispy toasts are a great base for hot entrees like chipped beef, or for broiled sandwiches like tuna melts. I also pulverize them in a food processor to make bread crumbs for baked deviled chicken thighs, or breading for scallopini. I really couldn't cook low carb without them!
-
September 04, 2016Reviewer: Pamela in New York* I love these for topping with chicken, tuna or egg salad. They're also great topped with protein nut spreads as a light snack/dessert. Following my bariatric surgery, these were perfect as they're thin, super low carb and don't upset my vertical sleeve. It gives me the crunch I crave without the carb grams. They are really tasty to boot. No chemical taste like other low carb breads. Can't wait to try the cocoa version next. This review is specific to Low Carb Proto Toast, Original

1 of 1 people found the following review helpfulApril 14, 2016Reviewer: Mariana in Washington* I have tried all 3 flavors and recommend them all!
As I grew up in Europe, this type of toast (very similar to Melba toast) is what I was used to having for breakfast, dunked in hot milk (with the addition of some Nequick, coffee, or a barley drink like Pero, or Inka Naturalis). I still like to eat it the same way, but want to call out that original and cocoa flavors are better than tomato for this purpose. You can add maple syrup (or Walden farms carb free pancake syrup) to your hot milk for flavor, too. I also like this toast with smoked fish, cheese, or for spreads. Tomato is my favorite taste, a little savory and very satisfying. My only complaint is the price. I know these are imported from Italy, but the price is still insane. Having said that, I am continually purchasing it because it is my staple food for snacking when I get hungry between meals and don't want to overdo it.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpfulApril 18, 2014Reviewer: Thomas in California* This is not what Americans would call toast, but the European idea of toasts. There is no way you could package American style toast, crispy on the outside and dense and moist on the inside. Physically impossible. For what they are, they are great. I love them topped with boursin cheese, red onion, capers and smoked salmon. Any sort of canape-style spread is good. Deviled ham, liverwurst, egg salad, tuna salad, etc. This review is specific to Low Carb Proto Toast, Original

1 of 1 people found the following review helpfulFebruary 17, 2014Reviewer: A customer in North Carolina* I really enjoy these for what they are - they're nice and crispy, and have almost a buttery flavor (I did order the cocoa and didn't really detect that flavor, but that's ok - I still enjoyed them). I'll continue to order, it's nice to get the fiber and protein! I'm curious to see what other products they introduce. This review is specific to Low Carb Proto Toast, Cocoa

4 of 4 people found the following review helpfulFebruary 08, 2014Reviewer: Kyle in Nebraska* I've bought these a few times now, and will continue to buy them. They're a bit bland, but they don't have the strange taste of other low carb breads. They're like a white melba toast and can be broken up for use in soups, etc. They're also good with butter, jam, or cinnamon. They come in a large box with 20 good-sized slices (divided into 4 5-paks, each 5-pak in a plastic baggie. This review is specific to Low Carb Proto Toast, Original

1 of 1 people found the following review helpfulFebruary 03, 2014Reviewer: A customer in Pennsylvania* I like these. They are expensive for what they are, but they are very satisfying. For 110 calories, you have a tasty high-fiber snack with protein. They are nice and crunchy-- not to be confused with toast, they are their own thing. The cocoa are delicious with some chocolate PB2 on them, or even some Walden Farms chocolate dip. This review is specific to Low Carb Proto Toast, Cocoa

0 of 1 people found the following review helpfulJanuary 22, 2014Reviewer: Pam in Washington* Nasty and crumbly that turn soggy after you add toppings... not great little things about 3" x 3" with low carbs. Can not use them as toast. Was going to throw them out then decided to fine crumble them to make bread crumbs. They actually work fine as a breading and for meatloaf with spices. Expensive bread crumbs, but found a use for them. This review is specific to Low Carb Proto Toast, Original
